Uzbek Delegation Explores Türkiye's Best Practices in Apricot Production and Processing

Recently, representatives of the Uzbekistan Dried Fruits and Nuts Exporters Association, together with representatives of five export-oriented companies, participated in a Study Tour to Malatya, Türkiye, organized with the support of the International Trade Centre (ITC).
The main objective of the visit was to gain first-hand knowledge of Türkiye's best practices in apricot cultivation, harvesting, drying, storage, processing, and export.
During the program, the delegation visited modern apricot orchards to learn about both organic and conventional apricot production, including harvesting techniques, drying processes, sorting, and product preparation for further processing.
A key part of the visit was a meeting at the Apricot Research Institute, where discussions were held with the institute's management on opportunities for cooperation between Turkish and Uzbek research institutions. The participants exchanged views on the commercialization of research, the introduction of new apricot varieties, and the implementation of advanced production technologies.
The delegation also held meetings at the Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry and visited leading dried apricot processing companies. These visits provided valuable insights into state-of-the-art processing technologies, food safety management systems, and best practices in export-oriented manufacturing.
As a result of the visit, new business relationships were established and preliminary agreements were reached to organize a reciprocal visit of Turkish companies to Uzbekistan, aimed at strengthening cooperation, sharing expertise, and developing joint projects.
